Foresight and Planning – Mercury conjunct Saturn in Capricorn

Hi everyone!

I hope your new year is progressing smoothly! As we are at the beginning of the year, it is normal to find ourselves easing back into our normal cycles and routines – especially after the holiday season! That being said, the beginning of the year also offers us the chance to look ahead and decide what we wish to make of the passage of time that lies ahead of us.

I would like to tell you about a specific influence – it’s nothing major, nor ever long-lasting but the timeliness of it is so in alignment with the natural progression of the wheel of the year that it serves as a great reminder and reinforcement of steps that will only benefit us. The conjunction of Mercury and Saturn (in the beginning degrees of Capricorn) will take us through the next week – lending strength to our long-term vision and planning capabilities.

Often-times our vision is short-sighted and limited to what we see/experience/must do or accomplish within a limited time frame. This conjunction of Mercury and Saturn in Capricorn helps us to extend that vision farther – 6 months, 1 year, 5 years…the sky is the limit if you really tune in! Saturn is the father of time and when united with Mercury’s mental power – our capacity to plan, prioritize and strategize is boosted. This influence can help you with long-term planning, seeing through distractions, prioritizing what is important and having the foresight you need to deal with challenges/difficulties effectively.

As Mercury and Saturn are united in Capricorn (Saturn’s own sign), this is most especially a time to take care of or plan for things that are part of your life for years to come (finances, career, health, children, homes, etc.). Saturn tones down the mental (Mercurial) tendency to react to short-term issues (a.k.a. distractions) as he favours and focuses on things that last through time. So even as you forecast or deal with potential/actual challenges, your ability to focus on the long-term outcome will not be swayed, making you far more effective at achieving your desired results at this time.

Alas, like I mentioned, it is a brief influence lasting only until the 16th in potency but as I mentioned, this can be a highly insightful, focused and productive time – so I implore you to use it well!

Now speaking of long-term planning, I would like to invite you to the 2018 Astrology Forecast at the Modern Mystery School on January 11th.
