Venus Retrograde is reminding you that your heart is in your hands!
Venus Retrograde is reminding you that your heart is in your hands!

Venus is retrograde…oh my gosh, that means:

“My relationship is going to end!”

“I won’t find love…”

“My life is going to be full of drama and conflict…”

Yes, Venus is retrograde – but NO! It does not mean any of those above things. Not as a rule of thumb, and particularly not this time around.

As with any retrograde period, Venus Retrograde is a testing ground. How do you manage love and relationships in your life? Are you proficient in the art of loving and cultivating reciprocal relationships that provide fulfilment?

As I write this article, I am currently sitting in a café with two lovely ladies sitting adjacent to me discussing the state of their relationship with their significant others. If love is on your mind, don’t worry – you’re in good company. Unlike many however, this time I’m going to tell you to stop worrying about your relationships and take care of the vessel that sustains your ability to love – your heart.

Technical Details of Venus Retrograde:

Venus Retrograde occurs roughly every 18 months and is currently happening from March 1st to April 12th and transits over Aries and Pisces respectively. From March 1st to 27th, Venus Retrograde transits Aries and then spends the remainder of her time in Pisces before stationing direct on April 13th.

While in retrograde motion, Venus makes several aspects to other planets in very favourable aspects that contribute to the optimistic outlook of her retrograde period. As she harmoniously aligns with the Sun, Mercury and most of the outer planets, this is a time of connection with your heart and learning to truly nourish it to keep love and spirit alive in your life.

Can you keep the passion alive?

Most of Venus’s retrograde period transits Aries – the first sign of the zodiac wheel. Aries is the initiatory fire that sets the zodiac wheel in motion. It is a wheel of creation and evolution and without the passionate fires of Aries, there is no movement and hence no life or progression.

Venus herself governs over the creative and loving faculties. Metaphysically, Venus governs the heart. While many of us would love to fancy ourselves an inexhaustible source of love and compassion without fail, we all know that the evidence points to the opposite. In the teachings of the Modern Mystery School, the heart holds 3 flames: the Love Flame, the Truth Flame and the Flame of Transformation/Transmutation.

If not cared for, these flames can run out and not always because we don’t love or care about our significant others or family, friends, etc. Sometimes, the flame of passion dies within our heart because we don’t tend to it. When that happens, we have nothing left to give and the love we would feel becomes masked by fatigue and apathy.

While Venus is retrograde in Aries, imagine that your heart is a candle whose flame keeps you connected to life and the people you love. Unfortunately, your candle does not burn indefinitely without care. Fire requires air and fuel to continue burning. Your candle doesn’t have a subscription to Amazon Prime and can’t refuel on its own, it relies on you to pay attention and attend to its needs.

Yes, your heart requires you to pay attention and provide it with the joy, passion and excitement that keeps it healthy and beating. Apathy is when that flame has extinguished and you stop caring for yourself and others. Definitely not a place you want to be and given that many have been experiencing hard times lately, this time to nourish your heart is so necessary.

How to know if Venus Retrograde holds important lessons for you:

Not every retrograde period holds equal significance for us seekers on the path of wisdom. We all have our strengths and areas of wisdom as well as areas where we need to heal. If you notice any of the following, Venus is trying to draw your attention so that you can heal your heart and go through life fulfilled.

Work diligently with Venus if you notice any of the following:

·       Irritation when people in your life reach out to you (or even call your name)

·       The desire to withdraw or become invisible to others

·       Feeling used or like you have nothing left to give

·       Having no desire or interests in life

·       Excitement has given way to indifference

·       Fatalistic thoughts or feelings about your life and relationships

·       Giving up on aspirations or boundaries because it is easier

You may notice these “symptoms” to varying degrees. We all can work with Venus Retrograde, but the more severe you notice these behaviours, the greater the call to heal. Luckily, Venus Retrograde is the perfect time to do just that.

Magickal Dates to nourish your heart:

As mentioned, Venus makes a number of positive aspects while retrograde and so I have a few suggestions lined up for magick/healings/activities you can do to nourish your heart.

1)       March 11th, 2025: Venus conjunct Mercury in Aries – bring fresh air to that flame! Learning, exploring new interests and areas of creativity is a great way to start off this retrograde period. Although both Venus and Mercury are retrograde in Aries, the combination of mental energy that craves experience with a heart searching for creativity and passion make this a great time to explore new interests. Find a class! Gather your art supplies! Delve into great books or poetry!

2)       March 21st, 2025: Venus in Aries sextile Pluto in Aquarius – what is your heart’s purpose? What does it want to fulfill in life? These are great things to reflect on and if you need a little extra support, I would definitely recommend the Fire Soul Activation session from a qualified practitioner! You can message me to help you find one!

3)       March 22nd, 2025: Venus conjunct Sun in Aries – let beauty feed the flame of passion! Whether this is a glam-up time for you or you take a moment to appreciate the beauty and harmony in your life, appreciation and care for the self will go a long way to restore your heart. If you struggle with self-image, I would recommend the Advanced Isis Healing. It will help clear traumas and struggles with self-image and redirect them towards confidence.

4)       March 27th, 2025: Venus conjunct Neptune in Pisces – tap into the Agape (God’s Love). In the teachings of the Modern Mystery School, there is one love that we can always guarantee exists in our lives and is fulfilled – God’s Love for us. As Venus and Neptune both have special relationships with Pisces are conjunct (Pisces is the sign of the Agape/Christ Consciousness), it would be such a great thing to take the day off and have that communion with spirit. If there happens to be an Empower Thyself Class happening around that time, sit in on it – even if you’ve done it before! That nourishment of heart and spirit will go to the next level if you have the chance to be there!

5)       April 6th, 2025: Venus in Pisces trine Mars in Cancer – establishing reciprocal flow. Hearts don’t exist in isolation. It is important we nourish our own hearts, nourish the hearts of others and allow our loved ones to nourish us too. Spend the day with someone you love deeply. Show your love and devotion and don’t be afraid to teach them how to nourish you better as well. If you have been dealing with any conflict or tension, this is a great day to re-establish harmony in important relationships too.

6)       April 8th, 2025: Venus conjunct Saturn in Pisces – consolidating your lessons. At the end of experience we have the opportunity to formulate wisdom. The conjunct of Venus and Saturn in Pisces gives us the ability to take our experience and not only put the wisdom we gather into practice, but to truly remember and learn so that we don’t have to repeat history. This is where you plan for the future. This is where you implement and integrate the activities and practices that keep your heart flowing so that you never feel heartsick or apathetic again.

Why is keeping passion alive in your heart so important:

Full hearts lead fulfilling relationships.

One of the biggest mistakes that we make in life is that we often put the pressure solely on our relationships to sustain the heart flame. This is especially true for our romantic relationships. It’s a trap to expect any single relationship to provide fulfillment for your entire life. The truth is that your own contributions to the fulfillment of your heart should be vastly more than the contributions of others.

Fulfillment of the heart comes from your own personal growth which can include blossoming relationships however, stagnancy in other areas of life creates dissatisfaction and the first place we channel the dissatisfaction is into our relationships. This is why it is so important to keep creativity, adventure, and play alive in your life.

Apathy and dissatisfaction can make strong relationships seem the opposite. In the attempt to stir up some fire, you often inject drama or create problems to try and get the fire going. Your efforts are better spent enjoying your life and keeping the flame alive rather than using drama to build passion.

If this resonates with you and you have been experiencing apathy and dissatisfaction, receiving healing, taking classes and going on adventures can all stimulate growth in the heart and soul and lift you from the depths of the darkness and “blah” that apathy creates in your inner world.

Magickal baths are a great method of working with the healing energy of Venus.

Venus Retrograde Magickal Bath:

Since we all love a little magick, here’s a healing bath you can do to invoke the energy of Venus and restore your heart and passion.

Ingredients:

Apple

Strawberries

Rose or rosehips

Mugwort

Hibiscus (good one to include if you’ve been experiencing apathy)

Ylang Ylang

Say a prayer to Venus to bless the herbs before adding them to the water. You can use any combination of these that you would like. These fruits and herbs are all sacred to Venus. You could use all the herbs and top off your bath with some apple and strawberries as a treat. (I also think Venus would not object to whipped cream as a topping for your fruit as well!)

You could also leave an offering of these herbs and fruits on your altar if you have one as well to bring in Venus’ energy to fill your heart.

Things to remember about Venus Retrograde:

Retrograde planets don’t always mean disaster or chaos. They often initiate the process of healing and learning in our lives. This is how we grow on our paths.

Here are the top 3 things for you to remember about Venus Retrograde in Aries and Pisces:

1)       Your heart requires your own attention, care and devotion. Don’t outsource your personal fulfilment to others.

2)       Full hearts have fulfilling relationships. Hearts filled with apathy or dissatisfaction try to regain passion through drama and conflict.

3)       Your heart craves growth in every area of your life! By continuing to develop spiritually, discovering new strengths, interests and deepening relationships, you feed your heart and spirit. This is what we call fulfillment in modern times.

What I like to call the Self-Love movement tries to plumb the depths of this, but without understanding your nature as spirit and the role your heart plays in tying the physical and spiritual together, these actions can end up becoming egotistically self-serving. So let’s use this period of Venus Retrograde to take it deeper!

Honour your heart, tend to its sacred flame and share your light with others.

That’s all that Venus Retrograde wants for you.

Sending blessings of passion, love and joy to you!

Aleks
