I hope that you're all enjoying your summer and are thriving! I wanted to take a moment to give you a little bit of information on the Capricorn Full Moon happening on the 19th.
So as it is the Capricorn Full Moon, this means that the Sun is in the sign of Cancer (the watery sign of emotions, family, the home, nourishment and the occasional moments of drama). It's not uncommon at this time to find yourself over-involved with your emotions or with situations dealing with others. And with so many details that add to the drama, things can be confusing at this time.
So cue in the Capricorn Full Moon - Capricorn is the Mountain goat who through discipline climbs his way to the top of the mountain. In solitude, with only his thoughts as his ally or enemy, he ascends. And in the midst of drama and details and way too much talking, doesn't a little simplicity and solitude sound wonderful?
The Full Moon is deriving her energy from Saturn this month (ruler of Capricorn) and at the peak of the Full Moon (July 19th, 6:57pm eastern time) Saturn is retrograde, located in the sign of Sagittarius and in the 12th house (from the perspective of Toronto). The 12th house is the house of the subconscious or undoing and when Saturn resides here, he demands a period of introspection. Being received by Sagittarius, he asks that you view your life from a higher perspective rather than sit around moping.
As Saturn is square to Neptune, you may have a few harsh truths to confront regarding your own role in your relationships and the drama that you're experiencing. It's no time to play victim or pretend you're above whatever behaviours are bothering you. Luckily, Saturn is trine to Mercury and Venus and so if you're able to acknowledge your own part in your troubles, then your ability to communicate, resolve issues and restore balance to your relationships will be much stronger.
On another note, this square between Saturn and Neptune may also have you feeling like you've lost your bearings in life and don't know which direction to head into. You may feel like you're walking through fog and can't make out what is important in your life and where to head to next. In extreme cases, there may be a feeling of not knowing your purpose, who you are or why you are here and a lack of desire to pursue what may feel like a hopeless cause.
No matter the experience, this Capricorn Full Moon is calling for a simpler view of things and that can only come with a higher perspective. So whether you need perspective on relationships, your life purpose or the path ahead of you, I encourage you to join me this Friday for a Full Moon ceremony in the Wiccan tradition. Working with this theme of higher perspective, we will create the magick to have simplicity and insight together! See the event details below.
For those of you not in Toronto, I encourage you to take some time for introspection and look at things from a higher perspective. Here are a few questions to help guide you:
What are the 4 most important areas of your life?
Write down a goal for each area of importance?
What are you allowing to block you in each area?
What are actions can you immediately take following the end of the full moon energies?
I hope that this insight and these questions serve you in simplifying what may appear to be a confusing mess. Raise yourself up and away from the drama and I know that you will succeed in getting the clarity you need!
Capricorn Full Moon Ceremony

I apologize, it has been quite a while since my last post…I have been off gallivanting the world and have had the honour to teach Astrology, Healers Academy and other amazing programs here locally in Toronto, in Brazil and in Japan over the past few months. I will certainly do my best to keep you all more up to date in my adventures and share in the magick with you!
Coming up in a few days (June 4th to be exact) is the Gemini New Moon. As always, the New Moon is a time of planting seeds and setting intentions. The Sun and Moon are conjoined in the sign of Gemini and this is truly a magickal time! As you can see from the image above, there is a gracious energy that comes with this Gemini New Moon…but it is not entirely without fun either!
Gemini works with the human element, and as such this is the time to focus on your relationships and relationship building. Whether you are looking for a romantic relationship or looking to cultivate business connections, this is the time to build genuine connections that are mutually beneficial. The Sun, Moon and Venus will all be conjunct at 14 degrees Gemini bringing in that extra focus on love and friendship.
For those of you recovering from a broken heart, the energy of this Gemini New Moon will help you to make your first steps towards embracing life again. The light, quick energy of Gemini combined with the healing influence of Venus, the Sun and Moon will spark some excitement and desire to leave any confines you may have withdrawn to.
Considering that this Gemini New Moon takes place on Saturday, this is the perfect time to get out and meet people. If life has been boring, get out and have fun! There is a joyful tone to this energy that will help you to not take life too seriously. Since this takes place on Saturday, this is the perfect time to get out and meet people. If life has been boring, get out and have fun! There is a joyful tone to this energy that will help you to not take life too seriously. The youthful, daring mindset of this New Moon will help you embrace adventure…with perhaps just a drop of mischievous trouble. Nothing you can’t handle, I assure you though! There’s nothing wrong with being a little Puck-ish at times!
Lastly, this is also an ideal time to tune in and have a conversation with your higher self. Gemini governs over the relationship between the mind and higher self and at the time of the Gemini New Moon, we can take advantage of a clearer channel for communication. If you’re in need of perspective or have the desire to understand yourself on a deeper level, I definitely recommend taking some time in meditation. Gemini is the sign and master of communication and that includes internal and external communication.
So embrace your relationships this weekend and all of the joy your relationships bring you!
Yours in magick and mischief,

Happy New Year! I hope that everyone has had a wonderful time during the holiday season partaking of food and drink and merriment! I know that 2016 is going to pan out to be an amazing time of growth but there will be more details on that to come! In fact, I will be hosting the 2016 forecast in person and so I encourage you to make it out! See the calendar for details!
Now that I’ve got the pleasantries out of the way, it’s time to say those magickal words that I know inspire dread and fear in your heart:
Mercury is retrograde!
Mercury is retrograde!
Mercury is retrograde!
Now, I know you’re thinking that the year has just started and that you’re not ready for the “chaos” Mercury brings while in retrograde movement. But let me tell you, this is perhaps the best thing you could ask for, especially if organization and cleanliness are part of your goals for the year!
So as of today, January 5th Mercury is in retrograde motion in the sign of Aquarius but on the 8th he moves back into Capricorn and will remain in retrograde motion until the 25th. You may start to feel (or indeed have already felt) the urge to clean and go through old things and make space. Closets, drawers, locker rooms, storage units and those pesky areas where STUFF tends to accumulate will not be spared. You may notice that you have a particular need for things to be clean and organized…especially if that really isn’t something you value or devote much time to normally.
Now the cleanliness and organization piece are really about preparing space. The underlying energy or theme of this retrograde period is one of being free and unfettered by your own junk so that you are able to pursue your own goals. It’s hard to move forward when you have a lot of junk to drag around with you. As you begin to purge yourself of things that simply create chaos and disorganization, you may find it easier to part with your stuff than you thought it would be. Anything that is unnecessary, has no practical use or hampers you simply has to go. Take advantage of this emotional freedom from STUFF to create the space that you’ve been meaning to for oh so long!
Imagine, you are the winged traveller (Mercury) climbing to the top of the mountain (the symbolism of Capricorn) and your travelling bag is stuffed with all the things you cram your space with; toiletries, gadgets, books, trinkets, food you don’t eat and clothes you never wear and so on. As a matter of fact, you can barely even close the darn bag and bits and pieces of stuff crack through the seams. You have to make it to the top of the mountain and the closer you get to the top, the heavier that bag becomes. As Mercury is in his retrograde period at the moment, it is as if you are at the summit. The oxygen is low and the climb is incredibly steep. Failure is not an option.
So I ask you: What are you going to remove from that bag and toss to the side?
Now on the 14th, Mercury will move into conjunction with the Sun in Capricorn so if you’re losing perspective on why you’re cleaning house, this is the time to tune in and get clear on your goals and plans once again. Whenever we encounter anything difficult, it is easy to forget why we’re doing it in the midst of our “suffering”. This conjunction of the Sun and Mercury in Capricorn will fill your mind with that vision of whatever golden award awaits you at the top of your own personal mountain top.
Towards the end of Mercury’s backwards sojourn, he moves into conjunction with Pluto and he will be hanging out with the Lord of the Underworld until the end of January. From the 23rd to the 31st, this sense of cleaning house may shift towards how you are spending your time. You may find yourself being pulled in opposing directions. Your goals and needs may conflict with your responsibilities or with the desires of other important people in your life. Conversely, you may discover that you simply have many things demanding your time and energy and you cannot effectively handle them all. This conjunction of Mercury and Pluto will ask you to cut loose activities that are not in alignment with your priorities.
If you don’t know what your priorities are, then you may find that the end ofthe month is incredibly difficult, hard to balance and leads to a lot of personal frustration and exhaustion. My suggestion; make sure you know what the top 3 – 4 priorities are in your life so that you can make the best possible decisions for yourself at this time (and in general).
You may also find that you want to free yourself from certain old issues and emotions at this time. Tolerance for drama and fake issues is at a minimum and this makes it the perfect time for spiritual cleansing as well. All forms of emotional release are particularly effective at this time. Emotional Cord Cuttings and the Isis Healing (healing of the emotional body) are good options if you’re ready to take that cleansing to the next level!
Anyways, as much as I joke about the dread and horror of Mercury being in retrograde motion, this truly is a good time to clear the way for yourself. We all have branches, thickets, obstacles and garbage that hinder easy progress upon our path. Sometimes there are piles of laundry and paperwork in the way too! You’d be surprised at how good it will feel to get this out of your way and how much more energy you’ll have to devote to the things that matter!
So grab your garbage bags, open the closets and drawers and take joy in clearing things away!
Until next time!

Welcome to the joyous season on Sagittarius! I hope you’re all getting into the merriment of the season! I received a question today that gave me a bit of a chuckle (but had merit), and so I’d like to share that with you as this influence will be active for most of December.
So the question I received had to do with Mercury and some technological issues a friend has been encountering. He reached out to me to see if Mercury is retrograde. I know that some of you will feel a certain degree of relief when I say that he is not in retrograde motion. But it may certainly feel like it for some of you though!
So as of November 27th, Mercury is in what we call the Out of Bounds position meaning that in terms of his declination (how far he has travelled North or South), he has ventured south of the Tropic of Capricorn which is the southern-most boundary of the Kingdom as dictated by the Sun. (For further explanation of this concept, here’s a good article with an explanation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropic_of_Capricorn)
Astrologically, when a planet moves beyond either Tropic (Cancer or Capricorn), that planet is said to be Out of Bounds. When a planet is Out of Bounds, he or she crowns themselves the ruler and becomes pumped up. It is as though that planet is on steroids.
Now, Mercury has been in Sagittarius since November 20th and since Sagittarius is opposite to his own sign (Gemini), Mercury does not fare well there. In fact, he is said to be in his detriment in that sign. So at this moment, Mercury is far away from home and on steroids. On top of it all, he’s very close to the Sun (he always is) and the Sun is lighting a fire under his bum. Now this probably doesn’t mean much to you does it? So allow me to paint a picture for you! In true Mercurial style, I present to you the following comedic scenario:
Here is Hermes, the winged messenger who has been given excessive amounts of steroids. He’s talking 100 miles a minute, flitting from here to there and in a bit of a general panic because he’s far away from home and can’t seem to get his bearings straight and his pants are on fire! So if you’re feeling nervous and a tad over-reactive right now, it may be that you’re drawing on that Mercurial energy more than you thought you were. And as you can see, he’s just a tad bit off at the moment…
Mercury governs over our ability to perceive and react to the world around us. As the go-between, he rules over the nervous system (through the sign Gemini) and our senses shape our perception of the world around us. When Mercury comes under fire (Combust of Sunbeam) or is in an Out of Bounds position, that affects the nervous system (some of us more than others) and we tend to become more sensitive and more prone to stress as the nervous system becomes hyperactive and more easily agitated. Things seem harsher than normal and we long for peace!
What fascinates me though is that Mercury spends most of his time either in the Combust or Sunbeam positions, meaning that he is under almost constant stress from the Sun. Astrologically, Mercury is never more than 28 degrees away from the Sun and any position within 17 degrees of the Sun is either Combust or Sunbeam, meaning that he is either on fire or stuck in the middle of the desert with no shade and no water. As a society that values the Mercurial qualities and domains (trade, intelligence, communication, merchandise, marketing), it’s no wonder that most of us are under an almost constant state of stress. We spend so much of our lives in that Mercurial domain (the mind) and sometimes struggle to pull ourselves away from his influence (hence why his retrograde periods can often be a rough experience).
The good news is that by the time you likely read this, Mercury will have moved into Capricorn which is ground decidedly more neutral to him. He’ll still be on steroids and have his pants on fire though! He goes off the steroids on December 24th, just in time for Christmas! Prior to that though, it is important that we take the time to learn how to master the mind and in essence, learn how to master Mercury’s influence. Don’t forget, I named this site Master the Stars for a reason!
So if you’ve been feeling that stress, over-reactivity or fire under your bottom, here are some ideas to help manage your over-worked mind and nervous system:
• Ritual or prayer – Hermes (Mercury) was the God who brought prayer and ritual magick to the world. Rituals for healing and peace are perfect! If you don’t know any, I encourage you to check out the Empower Thyself class, where you learn rituals for self-healing and protection!
• Essential oils: anoint yourself or put these oils in a diffuser. Lavender is soothing and will help with an overactive mind and restful sleep. Camomile relieves a frazzled nervous system.
• Crystals: amazonite, blue pyrite or sodalite. Wear or meditate with these crystals. All have a soothing and reinforcing energy for the nervous system, mind and communication!
• Healing: Reiki (works wonders for the nervous system), Crystal Healing or Etheric Reconstruction sessions would all be beneficial at this time! I encourage you to gift yourself one of the sessions! For those of you in Toronto, these are sessions that I would be happy to offer to you!
There are many things we can do to bring ourselves back into balance, it’s simply a matter of understanding what is going on and having the right tools for the job! Here are some suggestions for the present holiday season. If you feel like you need more specific guidance, please reach out to me: [email protected]
Many Blessings to you this Holiday Season!

I hope that you've taken some time to look out at the beautiful full moon and bask in that pearly white energy!
This current Full Moon is lighting up within the sign of Gemini and is highlighting all sorts of things (Gemini is the most multi-faceted of the signs) but the one question that this full moon is asking of you is: what are you hiding from others in order to keep the peace or avoid judgment?
Gemini is the sign of communication and when the Moon makes her way into this sign (especially while at the full), we are normally quite communicative and ready to smooth over emotional hiccups with open, honest words. When the Full Moon lights the sky, we are often overcome with emotion and the rational Gemini energy helps us to put some of our experiences and feelings into words so that we can share with others. With this particular Full Moon, the Sun and Mercury (ruler of Gemini) are conjunct with Saturn however and in opposition to the Moon, bringing silence and secrets for the sake of being liked or keeping the peace.
Whether it is speaking words or committing actions that are not really in alignment with who you are, there is a lack of genuineness that comes directly from the feeling of being judged by others. This Full Moon in Gemini is encouraging you to be genuine and not succumb to restraint of expression. Gemini governs over relationships and the service and healing that come about as a result of our relationships. When we employ self-restraint to personal expression and accept the judgment of others, we propagate the construction of relationships that serve no one and produce no love.
As the sign which is represented by the Lovers card in the Tarot, Gemini and the energy of this Full Moon will not stand for that.
So if shame, guilt or other negative feelings are surfacing, perhaps it's time to gently challenge the dynamics of your relationships. This Gemini Full Moon will help you find the right words if you're brave enough to be genuine. You might also find that your loved ones and friends are far more accepting of those things you've been hiding than you thought. This Gemini Full Moon can also reveal judgments of self that we project on to others. Truly, until we communicate with someone, we never really know what's going through their mind and it is easy to project our own garbage and hang-ups on to them. So use your words this week! Be open and honest and do away with the pressure of judgment!
If we can all incorporate a little more of that Sagittarian-Jupiter influence, that complete disregard for the opinions of others, we'd do great! On a funny note, in astrology Jupiter is renowned for his lack of concern as regards the disposition of other planets in relation to himself. Even when in a square or oppositional state with another planet, (harsh or combative astrological relationships) Jupiter ignores the animosity that would normally be present in such a situation and treats that planet like his friend anyways. He is called the Greater Benefic and we can see why; he smiles and remains indifferent to judgment even in the face of outright hostility.
If you feel like you could use a little more of that in your life, I encourage you to connect with him through meditation. It takes a lot to be bigger than the opinions of others, and no other planetary energy accomplishes this in the way that Jupiter does. Zeus and Odin are two of the Gods who relate to this Jupiterian disposition and if you feel so called, you can read on some of their stories to connect to their energy as well!
So just remember that you are bigger than others’ judgment and that hiding who you are to avoid judgment does not serve anyone. Even if the only thing that comes of this is a boost to your confidence and an ability to be more open and honest with others, then this Gemini Full Moon will have sparked some growth for you and growth is the most important thing!
Until next time!

Freaked out about the last of the Blood Moon Eclipses coming up? There’s a lot of hype surrounding it and wherever there’s hype, there are opinions and baseless statements. I’ve seen all sorts of interpretations ranging from doomsday prophecies to the standard call for a greater need for self-love.
I won’t be discussing either of these because they are not entirely relevant to the incoming energy of this lunar eclipse in Aries. I would like to discuss a bit of a higher concept with you as this is the heart of the energy of this lunar eclipse in Aries, also known as the Blood Moon Eclipse.
First of all, let’s get to the basics of this event. The lunar eclipse will be occurring in the sign of Aries on September 27th or 28th (depending on your location in the world). It will also be a Super Moon as well, so the visual phenomena should be spectacular if you choose to take the time to see it which I highly encourage you to do (it is safe on the eyes).
Now as the moon is eclipsed in the sign of Aries, it will be revealing to us where we use our Will and personal force to detriment in our lives. Notice that “Will” is capitalized. This is done with intent. We are not talking about the meagre, unstable aspect of the personality that we call will power, we are talking about a universal force – a force that all of us are capable of wielding with clarity, love and respect.
In a nutshell, Will is a force that either creates or destroys. We wouldn’t be far wrong to link it to the concept of death and rebirth. Sometimes the slate must be cleared so that things can be built anew. Will is the force that sets all other things into motion to bring about creation – the greatest of all gifts bestowed upon humanity. We all bear the ability to create; from products, to food, to the holy act of creating a child – there is no human on this earth who is incapable of creation. We are also capable of destruction. You don’t require me to elaborate on that fact. We’ve all experienced it in one way or another.
What we need to understand about the Will is that in the imbalanced human, wielding the power of the Will creates destruction. We have been gifted with free Will, and we need only look at worldly events to understand how Will can be a destructive force. The key is in understanding that for the person who seeks growth, higher light and wisdom, that destructive phase is much like the pruning of a tree – temporary pain that allows you to reach higher and higher towards the light, resulting in greater purity and a higher perspective. For those who are unwilling to allow some of those branches to be trimmed, Will becomes a misdirected force that has the potential to create destruction beyond one’s own life.
We don’t need to be “spiritual” to connect to that force which we call Will. In fact, there are many people we as spiritual communities judge who were quite adept at the use of Will. Hitler’s ability to destroy almost an entire continent was very much contingent on his ability to wield his Will. We judge those who perpetrate acts of extremism in the Middle East and abroad, the sad truth is that many of them wield more Will than we do here in North America. Sadly, it is misdirected and is ruining many innocent lives.
Will is the greatest of all forces here and we can see how individuals who wield it have the ability to create history. Now coming back to this lunar eclipse in Aries, this energy is highlighting to us where our Will is misdirected and where we have a tendency to get in the way of our own creations.
Stepping back to what I spoke of earlier, Will is the force that sets all other things in motion. Everything has its process and time, this Aries lunar eclipse is trying to illustrate to us where impatience gets the better of us and we try to impress force upon creations in order to speed up their fruition.
Will does not always create instantaneous results – especially where our bigger goals in life are concerned. You may notice that things you’ve been working on suffer at this time, especially if you’ve been pushy or impatient. This can range from new relationships to work projects to buying a house. Cooking something at double the temperature in the hopes it will be finished in half the time just doesn’t work. You only end up burning and scorching your creation. The same thing happens when you apply too much force – you only end up squashing the very thing you’re trying to create.
If you’re having a lot of misfires, errors or outright failures, it’s a definite sign that you need to ease up on the process a little and give everything its due time.
The other half of this energy is in understanding the nature of our Will and seeing if it is alignment with everything else. I want local, home-grown cherries in the winter. I live in Toronto. Mother Nature is laughing up her sleeve at me. She has her own Will and process and I am certainly not going to override her. In this instance, I will accede to her and allow nature to take its course (and make do with cherry flavoured candies instead). How often do our desires conflict with those of other people or the environment that we are in? This lunar eclipse in Aries is also reminding us that we must temper our Will with love and intelligence. And this applies to both ourselves and others. When we don’t love ourselves, of course the things we Will into creation will be destructive!
Aries is always about force and action. If we understand that at the root of it all, we need to balance out our ability to apply force through our actions with love and wisdom then our creations will come out in the highest service. It is in emphasizing self-fulfillment (from the motivation of the negative ego) that we create problems and allow the Will to become destructive to the self and others.
The beautiful thing about Aries is that he is the spiritual warrior who although aggressive and rough in his handling of life, seeks the balance and peace of Libra. He eventually comes into connection with the Higher Self and all of his actions take on higher purpose instead of simply fulfilling the desires of the negative ego.
So here is your challenge for the next 6 months – wield your Will from a place of higher perspective so that it is in service to you and all those around you. Temper that Will with love and intelligence. Allow the process of your creation to unfold on its own timing and of its own accord.
You absolutely have choice in this matter! Do not allow the impatient desires of the negative ego to rule you. That’s about as simple as I can put it. So, go on and patiently create your dreams!

Good news! Mercury is in retrograde motion! Yes, I can see that dead faced stare you’re mentally directing at me right now. Remember that this is a time of personal alchemy. It’s time to see how well you’ve mastered your mind and speech as a tool (because that is precisely what the mind is after all!)
So starting September 17th, 2015 Mercury will be retrograde in the sign of Libra. He generally likes it there, it’s an air sign and as part of the airy triplicity, Mercury feels quite comfortable. While he’s in retrograde motion, you may notice a few things:
1) You suffer from analysis paralysis – considering your options so frequently that you cannot make a decision
2) The synergy and mutual understanding that you normally have in your relationships has been turned off – simply guessing what others are trying to say based on your experience with them just gets you in trouble
3) Conflicts that you normally do your best to stay out of demand attention – you are forced to make a resolution instead of avoiding the issue altogether
When Mercury is in Libra, he can be a bit of a pushover and while he is retrograde in this sign, he may illustrate exactly where we ourselves can be pushovers too. The truth of the matter is that many of us want to be liked by others and so point #3 is often a habit we develop in the hopes that we gain favour from our friends, family and others. We avoid arguments not because we care about others or don’t have an issue, but because we want to be liked. In actuality, we have issues and we’d rather swallow those issues in exchange for the regard of others. While Mercury is retrograde in Libra, we will be forced to resolve those conflicts that we would normally avoid through retreat and silence.
For those of us who aren’t so good at conflict resolution, this retrograde period may be difficult. Libra is one of the signs that governs over the Law of Right Human Relationships and if we have to avoid conflict in order to maintain a relationship, then there truly is no relationship to begin with. Mercury is said to be a fourth ray planet, the fourth ray being “Harmony through Conflict”. Conflict is inherent in relationships so long as we remain human. It helps us to understand our misconceptions and gain deeper understanding of ourselves and others. Conflict resolution helps us to bridge those differences in perception and form a stronger bond.
Now points #1 and 2 have more to do with the mental aspect of what is happening while Mercury is retrograde in Libra. We over-think and over-analyze; especially when we need to make a decision. In relation to communication, this retrograde period will force us to really LISTEN to what people are saying. In our established relationships, there is a mutual understanding that occurs with time. Often that mutual understanding is based on certain perceptions that may or may not be in alignment with who that person is right now. We hear our children speaking and we still think of (and hear) a grade school child when they’re teenagers or even adults in actuality.
Mercury is challenging us to really listen to what others are saying and to avoid over-analyzing and placing our own preconceived notions on what is actually being said. The goal is to become a focussed, compassionate listener. Can you do that?
When it comes to analysis-paralysis, we need to make note of Hick’s Law which in essence tells us that decision making time is increased as a direct result of an increased number of options to choose from. When Mercury is retrograde in Libra, the number of options increases because we become less discerning and more open to possibilities that fit. If you’re in a brainstorming mode or need to think outside of the box, this is great! Dream away! If you need to make a decision, or worse yet – a quick decision; you may find your mind wandering from one option to the next, desperately attempting to choose the best selection.
If you’re having this sort of trouble, keep things simple! Is this solution:
a) Able to accomplish what you need?
b) Easily accessed, resourced or done?
c) Dealing with the actual problem or is it a band-aid solution?
These three questions alone should help you to separate the wheat from the chaff and make quicker decisions. Mercury is not at his most practical in Libra and so being more exacting of your needs will help you to make quicker decisions.
All in all, I have to say that while a lot of this may not sound particularly fun, this will be a gentler period of Mercury’s retrograde motion. If you’re opening your ears, being clear on what you need and willing to resolve conflicts as they come along, this should be little more than a hiccup. October 9th will come along and Mercury will resume his usual motion throughout the skies.
If you’re having difficulty with this, I encourage you to reach out to me! I offer a number of tools that may assist you and provide you with the perspective you need to heal and make positive changes.
In the meantime, all the best to you (and your mind) during Mercury’s retrograde voyage!

The Virgo Solar Eclipse is amongst us today and so I wanted to take a moment to give you a little insight on what this eclipse will be opening for us.
Unfortunately, for those of us in North America, the eclipse is occurring overnight and will not be visible. For those of you in South Africa, you are in for a treat as the eclipse will occur towards sunrise and make for a beautiful morning treat (just ensure that you take proper safety precautions).
So while this Solar Eclipse is in Virgo, the theme for the next 6 months or so is one of looking at where perfectionism and self-criticism show up as a hindrance to your life. Virgo gives us the gift of intelligence and discernment as well as a taste for quality. When that gift is improperly managed, it becomes perfectionism and criticism.
Do you lose enjoyment of things because you’re critical of yourself or your work?
Do you prevent yourself from starting things because you feel that you won’t do it right or perfect?
Do you go over your work repeatedly or correct the help that others provide?
This eclipse will help you to see where your mind rains down negativity and blocks you from accepting the circumstances of your life. It is in that lack of acceptance that we begin to lose joy and create problems that really are not problems at all. This excessive attention to detail can also rob us of the bigger picture and may hinder our long-term progress in favour of insignificant details. This is inertia at its finest – making no progress forward because you’re too caught up in what’s already been done.
The funny thing is that this behavior is the very reverse of what creates true beauty in this world. Aristotle said it best: “Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work.”
So at this time, we need to be balanced in having joy in what we do and making sure we take care of the necessary details that ensure our success. How do you do this?
Discernment - the gift of Virgo.
Instead of questioning your work, question whether your need to perfect things is actually necessary to the success of what you’re doing. If you’re willing to surrender your perfection to the light of higher reason, you’ll find that your nervousness, dissatisfaction and irritation magically disappear.
So for the next 6 months or so, take the time to surrender that perfectionism and learn to accept things as they are. Every time your mind goes to criticize your work, compliment it instead. Every time you feel dissatisfied or the feel the need to re-do work that has been previously done by yourself or others, correct the glaring errors and leave it be.
And most of all, enjoy the process. Whatever you put into the process is what you get out of the product so you may as well make it joyful!
And so I wish all of you a joyful time of progression towards perfection for the next six months!
Don’t forget to stay tuned in to the upcoming post on the Aries Lunar Eclipse!

The Pisces Super Moon is upon us and so I wanted to take a moment to tune in with you and give you some perspective on this powerful event.
While the Full Moon tenants Pisces, her emotional nature deepens and being a Super Moon, her magnetic pull and effect on our emotions is stronger than normal. The Moon reaches her fullness on August 29th and so in the days leading up to this and the days following, you may notice that your emotions blown out of proportion compared to the situations that trigger them. Pisces is the deepest of waters and during this Full Moon it is up to you how clear and how light those depths are.
This Super Moon is encouraging us to become more loving, compassionate people and heal the wounds deep in our hearts. As this Super Moon drags up the darkest parts of pain and sadness in our hearts, this can be a time of depression or it can be a time of healing and moving on.
As the Moon is conjunct with the currently retrograde Neptune (the exoteric ruler of Pisces), you notice yourself revisiting past circumstances and memories of pain or victimhood. This nostalgia can bring up new waves of pain for us to deal with – the key is not to attach yourself to those circumstances anymore. Remember that the past is the past and that you are free of the circumstances that have caused past wounding. You may want to pin blame on others – remember that to do so is a step backwards in your healing process. Your goal right now is release and freedom from the bonds of suffering and attachment.
More than anything at this time, we need compassion – compassion for ourselves and the compassion to forgive others for past pain and sorrow. As the Bodhisattva of Compassion, Quan Yin is one of the Goddesses that we can turn to at this time to assist us in cultivating, the forgiveness, love and compassion we need to make the most of these healing energies.
Thus, I have prepared a small prayer and ceremony that you can do to call down her assistance. I will be taking the time to do this myself tomorrow evening, and I encourage you to do the same. Even if you only write out a Forgiveness List (see instructions below), it will be a step forward in your healing process.
Thus I will leave you to it! Many Blessings!
You will need the following:
- Paper (preferably parchment paper)
- Pen or pencil
- Stone large enough to sink in water
This is best done in front of a large body of water. For those of us in Toronto, the Lake Ontario will work out quite nicely. For those of you who are not so close to a large body of water, if there is a creek or river close by, it will do.
1) Write out a Forgiveness List. On it, you will list all people and circumstances that you want to forgive and release. You will also forgive yourself for your role in each circumstance as well. For example:
“I forgive So-and-so for pushing me and calling me names in grade school.”
“I forgive myself for not standing up and putting an end to the name-calling.”
2) Fold up your Forgiveness List and tie it securely to the stone.
3) State the following prayer to the Goddess Quan Yin:
Mother of pearl, mother of dragons
Mother of love and mother of compassion
Strength and wisdom, bringing peace to the fore
Love and healing, she provides to the soul's core
Bring softness and stillness to a tender heart
May sadness, sorrow and pain swiftly depart
Bring light, bring love and your gentle care
May your loving arms lift us out of despair
From the deepest depths of hearts and seas
We ask you oh Goddess, to honour our pleas
We await your presence with awe and wonder
As we seek you out with humility and honour
4) Offer your own personal prayer to Quan Yin and toss the stone with the Forgiveness List into the water – visualizing or feeling that forgiveness make its way into the depths of your heart.
5) Take 10 to 15 minutes of personal reflection or meditation to connect with Quan Yin.

Blessings be this August! I hope that you are all well!
I wanted to take a moment and fill you in on a pretty major event that is currently happening at the moment. For those of you unaware, Jupiter and Saturn have moved to square off against one another in what some have termed “the battle of the Gods” for the next week. I assure you, this event is not so serious as that, however it will bring up aspects of ourselves that need a little loving attention at the moment.
Since we we’re using the theme of the Gods, let’s take a look at this line-up that we have at the moment. Jupiter is located in the sign of Leo at the moment. Meanwhile, Saturn is located in Scorpio.
So; in the blue corner, weighing in at a combined total of too much self-indulgence, we have the bright, the creative, the divine warriors Zeus and Apollo!!!
In the red corner, this pair threatened me with my life if I tried to weigh them - we have the somber, the serious, the responsible heavy-hitters Kronos and Hades!!!
And your ring girl for this evening is Venus!!! (We’ll get back to her later)
This event has been sponsored by and is dedicated to Emu. Random, I know. Don't ask.
So now, we’ve set the stage. And while I joke, I’m certain you can see the picture I’m beginning to paint here. While these Gods are actual beings, they also represent aspects of ourselves. Archetypes that we house within and at the current moment, two of these archetypes are creating some tension.
Jupiter in Leo represents the lighter, more joyful substance of ourselves. This is the aspect of self that wants to have fun, be creative, explore and most importantly take risks – personally and professionally. Saturn in Scorpio represents that aspect of self that is cautious, sober and takes safety and foundation seriously. The tension that these two are creating pits the expansive and cautious natures that we have against each other.
So the question while these two are squaring off is: can you balance your desire for growth and risk with your responsibilities and practical needs? If you’re suddenly struck by the need to run off and start your own business, buy a house or home (both Jupiter and Saturn deal with real estate), or make a sudden career change, you need to ask yourself if this is a chance that you can sustain over a long period.
You’ll probably have many great ideas and inklings of joyful ways that you can grow and evolve. The only thing to be wary of is that growth may get to your head and glorification of the self above your responsibilities and over-all well being can occur if you allow Jupiter to swell your head excessively. For others, this be a time highlighting just how paralyzing your need for safety and foundation can be. If you have a fear of the future, a fear of the unknown or any issues regarding risk and impulsive action, this may be a painful time as beautiful options of growth present themselves. If that Saturnian nature is too dominant, you may miss out on opportunities that call to your heart.
So we’re on break waiting to begin round twelve and the score cards are even. This absolutely begs the question – who’s going to win?
Well look at that! The ring girl Venus has appeared in Zeus and Apollo’s corner and is cheering them on! The bell has rung and Zeus appears to be rejuvenated by Venus’ charms!
Now while Jupiter and Saturn are at odds, we can’t forget that Venus is in retrograde motion and is currently backpedalling her way towards conjunction with Zeus. As I wrote in the article on Venus retrograde, Venus is asking us to become a physical representation of the qualities that we most value in ourselves. She is really encouraging us to show our divinity in a physical way. As she moves into union with Jupiter, the joy and light that these two bring (especially while in Leo) encourage us to live life in alignment with our highest joy and potential. It’s always a celebration whenever Jupiter and Venus get together in the skies!
So to return to our fight:
Zeus has stepped it up! Apollo is on the side cheering his teammate on! Zeus appears to be dominating the round, but will it be enough to attain the title belt?
Only you - you who are the judge can decide. Perhaps you give the scorecard to Zeus and Apollo and wholeheartedly embrace your growth. Perhaps Kronos and Hades fixed the fight and you struggle with embracing those opportunities that call to your heart. Or perhaps, just perhaps – you can acknowledge the merits of both contenders and grow sustainably and responsibly.
But again, you are the judge…and the winner is for you to decide.
I’ll be calling it a draw myself.
